Building with SIPs from Extreme Panel Technologies Inc. is the ultimate way to build green.  SIPs offer an entire system for the whole building envelope (foundations, walls, roofs and floors) with a product that is one of the most environmentally-responsible building products in the industry.  SIPs are relatively new to most people but have been around for more than 60 years.  Located in southwest Minnesota, Extreme Panel is a local manufacturer of SIPs .  Most of the products come from local suppliers to keep material sourcing at a minimum.  OSB mills are located in strategic locations to limit shipping which controls co2 emissions.

SIPs are made of EPS foam cores sandwiched between OSB panel faces.  The OSB is made from fast-growing trees, and produced in a way that yields a large percentage of every tree.  The foam itself is made from partially recycled material; the final result is a large solid panel that arrives to the job site pre-cut, eliminating jobsite waste.  The majority of Extreme waste is locally recycled to keep it out of the landfill.

Homeowners and building owners can bank on saving up to 60% on energy bills.  Imagine being an architect and specifying a product to your customer that is going to save them so much money in the long term.   Extreme SIPs have consistently outperformed other building methods of construction in both whole wall R-value comparison and energy efficiency.  The best data we have are the happy customers that report the dramatic results of less energy used every month.  There is a lot of test data to back up the findings of our customers.   Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has tested the entire SIPs shell to determine scientifically what the energy saving is.  Increased energy efficiency will do more to protect the environment than filling the home with so-called “green” products.   Reduced demand for energy also translates into decreased greenhouse gases being emitted into the environment.
Less waste on the job site is definitely better for our environment.  Pre-cut packages from Extreme Panels reduces the amount of jobsite material waste by 60% when compared to buildings constructed with regular dimensional lumber and framing materials.

Build tight and ventilate right.  When compared to buildings framed with dimensional lumber, Extreme’s large SIPs cover greater surfaces with far less gaps in the walls and roofs to be filled and sealed, offering owners better indoor quality, reduced infiltration of outside pollutants, smaller HVAC systems, and superior indoor temperature control.  Extreme buildings stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter .

SIPs are extremely strong as they are approved in seismic zones, hurricane and tornado areas.   Extreme SIPs are code listed under ICC and are third party tested by UL.  Extreme  SIPs qualify for Energy Star, LEED and other programs designed for green building concepts.  SIPs naturally qualify where other building methods struggle to meet qualifications. Imagine if everyone built a tight envelope like SIPs offer – the environment could turn the corner to healing.

BUILD STRONGER, FASTER, GREENER.  BUILD WITH SIPs.
