Jon Wagar’s sales career began at the age of 12 when he responded to a comic book ad to sell Christmas cards door to door. After high school and a stint in the military, Wagar returned to North Dakota, attended hometown state college, earned degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Science, then relapsed into a sales position with an upstart wholesale cedar company begun by a college friend.

Wagar has spent most of the intervening forty years selling a variety of engineered and specialty lumber products at the wholesale level, buying, re-habbing, and flipping residential properties, rescuing and re-homing architectural salvage, and serving in elected office and on the boards of local charitable organizations.

In 2014, Wagar and his wife Zona built a lake home using a combination of an ICFs and SIPS. Impressed with the ease of construction and the promise of negligible energy bills, Wagar accepted a position with the SIP provider and served eight years as a factory rep with them. Retiring in the fall of 2021, Wagar became an independent dealer for his former employer, then added Extreme Panel’s product line early in 2022.

The Wagars live in their dream home on a very private 100-acre lake very close to the middle of nowhere, and these days, choose to spend their snow-removal money on a winter rental near Phoenix, Arizona.
